General Description:
Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents. Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents. Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements. Prepare data associated with producing products and improving the design/production of products.

Utilizes a working knowledge of metal fabrication and the manufacturing process to recommend ways of making projects/products more efficient. Collects data as projects progress and uses that data to revise estimates on future projects.

Proficient with utilizing an ERP system. Works with sales to produce accurate bidding guidelines. Generate reports and forecast demands. Works across departments to build accurate project budgets and timelines.

Works across departments to collect accurate data and guide scheduling. Spend time visiting various subcontractors and negotiating with service professionals and suppliers.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Collect, Analyze, and estimate labor and material costs, as well as time requirements for a project
Review project submittals and blueprints to identify key items or unique material requirements
Periodically review, assess, and revise estimates as needed
Prepare detail cost analysis reports for each project
Input cost data into the ERP system
Monitor changes in cost (Estimate vs Actual)
Review and communicate customer requirements for a project
Work with the sales team to prepare proposals
Obtain and review different quotes from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
Work with Planning on production schedules, manpower needs etc.
Attend Pre-bid and post-award project meetings.
Prepare detailed estimates for all products and product lines
Manage bid pricing from all vendors
Read blueprints and analyze applicable documents to understand scope of work
Recommend cost-reduction options and money-saving strategies
Participate in Process Improvement initiatives

Education and/or Experience:
Associates degree in technical discipline, Engineering Technology degree or equivalent years of experience
A minimum of 2 years as an Estimator or similar role
A background in metal manufacturing is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to create reports on costing data
Proficient in relevant software including MS Office Suite
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Strong problem-solving abilities
Ability to understand technical drawings and requirements
Critical thinking, analytical, and organizational skills
Time management skills
Familiarity with basic financial and project management principles
Familiarity using an ERP system, specifically one in a fabrication/manufacturing environment

Licenses and/or Certifications:
Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) will be an asset

Travel:
Less than 10%, domestic
